Professional Accounting BS / MS

University of Houston-Clear Lake's combined Bachelor of Science (BS) and Master of Science (MS) in Professional Accounting program will accelerate your professional career in areas such as auditing, forensic accounting, financial accounting, financial analysis, internal auditing, managerial accounting, and tax planning.

The BS and MS degrees in Professional Accounting are awarded simultaneously upon completion of the integrated plan. Completion of the requirements for the BS does not meet graduation requirements until the MS curriculum is completed. Please consult with your advisor for additional information.

For admission into the MS portion of the combined degree program, students must:

  1. Take the GMAT exam and meet score and percentile requirements.
  2. Apply to graduate school and meet all entrance requirements for graduate admission to the School of Business.
  3. Have a cumulative UH-Clear Lake grade point average of a minimum of 3.0.

MIS Concentration

A concentration in Management Information Systems (MIS) is also available in our BS and MS in Professional Accounting degree.

UHCL internship and co-op programs are great opportunities to create connections and get real-world experience before you graduate. You can also get involved on campus. Beta Alpha Psi, the International Honorary Organization for Financial Information professionals, and the UHCL Accounting Association/Institute of Management Accounting Student Chapter provide excellent networking opportunities for accounting students. Mission Statement

The mission of the accounting program is to provide junior, senior and master's level students in the Houston/Galveston metropolitan population with an education designed to instill accounting knowledge, skills, abilities and attitudes necessary to be successful in their careers.

The undergraduate program primarily serves the region's community college systems by providing transfer students the opportunity to complete a four-year degree. Graduate programs serve both full-time students and working professionals in the region and provide the background to sit for the CPA examination. Instruction is designed for small classes and flexible hours. The faculty pursue a blend of research contributing to knowledge in professional practice, innovative pedagogy and discipline-based scholarship. The faculty interacts with professional organizations and the business community.
