University of Houston-Clear Lake provides hands-on skills required to begin, or advance, your career with a Certificate in Human Resource Management. Companies are in need of human resource professionals in areas such as compensation and benefits, human resource management, labor relations, organizational effectiveness, recruiting, and training.

Our program will prepare you to pursue a variety of careers in the human resource field such as compensation and benefits specialist, Human Resource manager, labor relations manager, organizational effectiveness specialist, recruiter or training and development director.

Houston is home to many petrochemical and aerospace company headquarters, and two large healthcare centers, Texas Medical Center (TMC) and University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), which means graduates don’t have to relocate to work for a large Human Resource department.

Our internship and co-op programs are great opportunities to create connections and get real-world experience before you graduate. You can also get involved on campus with the student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management, which offers professional development, networking, career advancement opportunities and a professional certification program. Our faculty hold PhDs, are certified professionals, experts in their respective areas, and are well published. Many are still professionally active in consulting for organizational development, teamwork and employment law issues. No human resource management classes are taught by graduate assistants.
