Our Instructional Design and Technology Program prepares graduates to be leaders in
the analysis, design, development and implementation of instruction, bridging cutting
edge technologies with the latest learning methods’ research. Our alumni work at schools,
colleges and universities as well as training departments of governmental and private
agencies, including NASA.
Our program is designed for individuals already involved in areas of technology or
curriculum development such as educators preparing online content, curriculum developers,
HR professionals, web developers, software consultants, and others who wish to delve
deeper into the learning process and its link to technology
We offer a Master of Science degree in Instructional Design and Technology with three
additional tracks to choose from depending on interests and career goals.
Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology – this degree provides professional education in educational technology and instructional
design for people in diverse economic sectors including healthcare, higher education,
business and industries and, most importantly, teachers from preschool to high school.
The degree is available completely online (though cohorts can be formed upon requests
for a web-enhanced/face-to-face hybrid instructional environment). This degree provides
the candidate with an understanding of learning and design theories, models and instructional
strategies. It includes hands-on work developing computer-based training pieces. .
Game Theory and Design Specialization – this track provides candidates additional skills and knowledge related to game
design, development and learning.
Human Resource Management Specialization – this track provides the candidate greater skills, knowledge and insight into human
resource management and its related human performance technology.
Industrial/Organizational Psychology Specialization – this track provides the candidate greater skills, knowledge and insight related
to the field of industrial/organizational psychology.
In conjunction with the Educational Management Program we also offer the following:Master
of Science in Educational Management with Principal and Master Technology Teacher
Certificates - As today’s modern classrooms become more technologically integrated,
educational leaders require the technical skills and knowledge to make smart decisions
about hardware and software at both the local and district level. This certification
provides principals, superintendents and other educational leaders the background
to make informed decisions.
In addition, we also offer two University of Houston-Clear Lake issued certificates.

Our Instructional Design and Technology Program faculty members are noted as academic
leaders in distance education, instructional technology administration, performance
technology, and related research. Their publications are found in a wide variety of
journals and they frequently make presentations at academic and professional conferences
around the United States.
Our Learning Technologies Program is an approved provider of both basic and advanced
teacher training for the Texas Virtual School Network
