Below is a listing of scholarship information that UHCL receives directly from donors and organizations sponsoring scholarships. Please check back as scholarships change often.

The Frederic Whitaker and Eileen Monaghan Whitaker Foundation (The Whitaker Foundation) proud announce the next round of its nationwide Art Scholarship Program, The Whitaker Foundation Scholarship Fund. The Foundation intends to support art students with a special emphasis on watercolor and museum studies and to help them meet the diverse needs of today’s professional art and museum world. Create Real Impact Scholarship - $1,500 - 10 Award (Deadline: November 5, 2015)

Student Eligibility:

Create Real Impact Contest Awards are open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia between the ages of 14 and 22 years. Entrants must be enrolled as full-time students in an accredited educational institution (secondary [middle/high] school, trade school, college, or university). All applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited.

SP Scholarship - $10,000 - 10 Awards (Deadline: October 30, 2015)

Student Eligibility:

A) Be at least 13 years old and enrolled or will enroll in a college or university in the US.

B) Be a legal resident of the U.S. or Puerto Rico.

Stephen J. Brady Stop Hunger Scholarships - $5,000 - 20 Award (Deadline: December 5, 2015)

Student Eligibility:

Stephen J. Brady Stop Hunger Scholarships are open to all college and high school students enrolled in an accredited educational institution in the United States. Applicants must meet the age requirement by October 5, 2015.

10 Words or Less Scholarship - $500 - 1 Award (Deadline: January 29, 2016)

Student Eligibility:

A) Anyone who is between the ages of 14-25 who will be attending school in the Fall of 2016.

B) In 10 words or less, tell us why you deserve the $500 scholarship.

Zeiger Firm Scholarship - $1,000 - 1 Award (Deadline: February 2, 2016)

Student Eligibility:

In order to participate, prospective applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited United States college or university or planning to attend one in the fall 2016 semester. Applicants should submit a 500-word essay answering the question on the website.

IAPMO Scholarship - $1,000 - 3 Award (Deadline: May 1, 2016)IAPMO Scholarship - $1,000 - 3 Award (Deadline: May 1, 2016)

Student Eligibility:

Must be a current high school senior; or enrolled or accepted as a full-time (12 credit hours) student in an accredited technical school, community college, trade school, four-year accredited college or university, or an apprentice program.

Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program

Sponsoring organization: Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation

Amount: Up to $7,500, non-renewable or transferrable

Application due date: January 30, deadline for online nomination

Candidates must be planning to pursue research careers in computer science or other STEM degree programs. Each year, the foundation awards up to 300 Goldwater Scholarships, which cover eligible expenses for undergraduate tuition, fees, books, and room and board for up to $7,500 for one academic year. A student can only win this scholarship once and must be nominated by his or her college or university rather than filling out a traditional application.

Microsoft General Scholarships

Sponsoring organization: Microsoft

Amount: Amount varies depending on full or partial tuition

Application due date: January 30

Applicants must demonstrate a passion for computer science or related STEM subject as well as a commitment to leadership. They must be enrolled in a computer science or related four-year undergraduate degree program located in the U.S., Canada, or Mexico. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a financial need. They must also apply for a summer internship, but not all applicants will be accepted. Microsoft offers similar scholarships dedicated specifically to women, minorities, and students with disabilities as well. Scholarships is a teacher advocacy site for students interested in considering teaching (and many other avenues within the field of Education) as a career.

We offer a yearly $2,5000 scholarship for college students studying to become teachers or work in the field of education. The "Inspire Our Future" scholarship is open to undergraduates, graduates, and doctoral candidates.

Applicants can major in the following:

Viking Mergers’ Entrepreneur Endorsement Scholarship

Scholarship Eligibility and Requirements

Those applying need to be able to demonstrate an interest in entrepreneurship. Demonstration can include ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:
  • Majoring in business, entrepreneurship, or small business management
  • Currently operating a side business while in college
  • Involvement in a family business
  • Being involved in an activity that will support their business/career goals of entrepreneurship. For example: if you wish to open a dance studio, and you’re majoring in dance, but you teach dance on the side to a few kids, or if you’re an active member of an entrepreneur club or organization at your school.

As part of the application process, you’ll need to explain how your major, business, or extracurricular activities express your interest in entrepreneurship.

Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students enrolled an accredited college or university in the United States, and also have a GPA of at least 2.5 for the prior semester or otherwise have an academic status in “good standing” (if GPAs are not used). The winner must apply the full amount of the scholarship towards costs directly associated with the cost of education within 12 months of receiving the award. These costs include: tuition, books, room & board, etc. Previous recipients of this scholarship are not eligible to apply in any subsequent years.

If you could start a company or business with a celebrity (dead or alive), whom would it be and why? Also, what type of company or business would you start with that celebrity and why?

If you choose to make a video, it needs to be between three and four minutes in length. If you choose to submit a paper, it needs to be between 400 and 600 words.

ZIP Conferencing Scholarship

For students in business, marketing or communication related fields, the award will be $2500 for responses of 500-1000 words on two questions:

1. In what ways have the use of new communication technologies affected the way that you interact with he world around you?

2. How do you plan on employing the skills learned from those experiences in pursuit of your professional goals?

TourRadar Scholarship

The TourRadar Scholarship is aimed to those who are studying marketing, business or hospitality/tourism, and offers students the opportunity to win a US$1000 cash prize to be used towards furthering their education, as well as a US$1000 travel voucher so they can get some worldly experience.

As well as the monetary prize, there is also the opportunity to receive experience in one of our TourRadar offices around the world, to see how a travel startup works from the inside, as well as spending time in the offices of G Adventures and on the road with them, to see how a travel company works out there on the road.

The CourseMinded Scholarship

The CourseMinded Scholarship is open to any student that is interested in teaching online, or taking online classes, is eligible for the $1,000 scholarship.

  • Have been in public or private foster care for the 12 consecutive months leading up to and including their 18th birthday; OR have been adopted or placed into legal guardianship from foster care after their 16th birthday; OR they must have been orphaned for at least one year at the time of their 18th birthday.

  • Scholarship is for undergraduate studies only
