5 Areas of Impact

What makes a university successful? Some might think it's the faculty while others the students or alumni. Still others might think the administration and staff are key. In truth, it takes all of these and dedicated community partners working together to build a great university. At University of Houston-Clear Lake, strong, committed people with many interests, abilities and backgrounds are the foundation of success. Now, UH-Clear Lake and all its constituents are moving ahead together to support five key initiatives that make UHCL and the community great.

Student Success

Priority number one for UHCL today, tomorrow and always is student success. For the good of the community and nation, talented students from diverse backgrounds are recruited by the university, retained in their courses of study and graduated as degreed professionals ready to forge their own success and economic empowerment. Your gift to UHCL will give more students an opportunity to build a bright future.

Arts

Through the visual and performing arts, people of all ages experience creativity and imagination in ways that inspire new thoughts and ideas that enrich their lives. Each year, more than 90 UHCL arts events, including Art Gallery exhibitions, Film and Speaker Series presentations and Bayou Theater performances, attract approximately 37,000 visitors to campus. Your gift to UHCL will help the university grow its impact as an arts destination.

Health

UHCL alumni are a leading force in major healthcare institutions and clinics in Houston and across the nation. Key programs include: healthcare administration degree programs offered at the Texas Medical Center, behavioral analysis and clinical psychology programs offered at the Clear Lake campus and a new RN to BSN nursing degree program at the UHCL Pearland campus. Your gift to UHCL can help prepare future leaders in healthcare, provide much-needed clinical services for children with autism or support facilities and programs that improve the wellness of UHCL students and the community.

PK-12 Education

To achieve full potential, students in pre-school through 12th grade need excellent teachers, skilled administrators and university faculty experts working together to advance academic success. At UHCL, training future educators happens in partnership with area school districts and community colleges. Classrooms are the laboratories to research and develop innovative curriculum and strong academic pathways. Your gift to UHCL will help more students find opportunity through education.

STEM

One of the greatest challenges facing the U.S. today is the need to graduate more domestic students in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). STEM enrollment at UHCL has nearly doubled in recent years, creating the need for a new STEM and Classroom Building and the opportunity for even more students to prepare as scientists and engineers. Your gift to UHCL will help launch new careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
