Undergraduate Coursework for BCaBA and Minor

Coursework for the BCaBA®

We offer a coursework sequence to partially prepare students to sit for the Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA®) exam. The certification board requires coursework AND supervised work experience. Supervised experience can begin as soon as you begin taking the classes.

All of the following courses must be completed to meet the coursework requirement for the BCaBA exam:

PSYC 3321 Learning - offered online and in-person

PSYC 4321 Applied Behavior Analysis I (pre-req PSYC3321) - offered online

PSYC 4322 Applied Behavior Analysis II (pre-req PSYC4321) - offered online

PSYC 4323 Research and Practice in Behavior Analysis (pre-req or co-req PSYC3321) - offered online

You will need to register as a non-degree seeking student (if you already earned a B.S. or B.A. degree) or as a degree-seeking student with a major in Psychology or related field (if you have not already earned a bachelor's degree) with University of Houston-Clear Lake in order to take the courses. Minor in Behavior Analysis

We also offer a minor in behavior analysis that is designed for students who wish to better understand the principles and processes underlying the behavior of humans and non-humans, as well as for students who would like to complete the coursework required to sit for the Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) examination. To qualify to sit for the examination, students must also fulfill a supervised experience requirement. Be sure to carefully review the requirements to sit for the BCaBA® exam at this website.

A minor in Behavior Analysis will require a student to take 15 hours from the Psychology program. The specific courses for the Behavior Analysis Minor are listed below, and courses that satisfy the coursework requirements for the BCaBA exam are so noted. Students must earn a grade of "B-" or better in 5 of the following courses for the minor.
