Before you leave home
- Make sure you have your I-20, passport, visa and all other important documentation handy and in proper order.
- Make 2 copies of the information- leave one set with your family; carry the other set with you.
- Make travel arrangements:
- If you would like to request a courtesy airport pick-up, please read the following guidelines (Airport Request Guidelines) and complete the Airport Request Form.
- Make sure you have arranged for a place to stay before arriving in Houston. UHCL has on-campus housing called University Forest Apartments. A lot of international student live here because of the convenience to UHCL.
- Make sure you have US currency available.
- Not only should you have sufficient monies to cover large sums like tuition and other fees, but you should also have smaller US denominations at your disposal. When you first arrive, it may be helpful to have small bills (e.g., $1, $5, $10) and coins (nickels, dimes, and quarters) handy so that you can pay for things like telephone calls and taxicabs. (Between $20-$50 should be useful).
