What is Yoga?
Yoga is a Sanskrit word which translates into The discipline of progress of uniting mind, body and spirit. An ideal routine consist of asanas, pranayama, meditation.
Yoga is more than just flexible postures. It is proper breathing; it embraces the realms of mind and spirited. At heart, YOGA is about a whole way of being – it is Ahisma –Do no Harm.
What is Not Yoga…
It is not a competition. Everyone’s flexibility is different based upon physical attributes. Competition reflects the positive effects of Yoga.
What does Yoga Consist of?
An ideal Yoga routine consists of Exercise, Breathing, Meditation and Fantasy Techniques.
Yoga operates on many levels and it is important to practice it as often as possible. Ultimately once every 24 hour period. This does not mean that all four techniques must be performed at the same time if you are constrained for time practice a little of each throughout the day.
For example, try taking a meditation break instead of a coffee break at work. When things get hectic, take five minutes and perform some of the stretching techniques at your desk. Try the visualization or fantasy “I love You” techniques to increase self-esteem while waiting in lines or traffic.
The most important thing to do is to practice some form of Yoga at least once each day.
