Applying for Aid

After completing the FAFSA and providing any additional information requested, you are automatically considered for any grant assistance for which you may be eligible, as well as for federal grants, loans, and work-study. Use the Financial Aid Timeline to guide you through the process.

FAFSA

Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. UHCL's school code is 011711. See Tips for Completing the FAFSA for additional information.

Verification - Request for Additional Information

In certain cases, you may be asked to provide additional information. For example, if your application is selected by the FAFSA processor to be verified, you will asked to submit a signed copy of your (and your spouse/parent) federal income tax return and all W-2 forms for the previous years as well as being asked to complete a verification worksheet.

Using the financial information you and your family provide, as well as federally established formulas and policies, the FAFSA processor will compute your family's expected contribution toward your education costs for the year.
