Texas State Teacher Master Technology Teacher (MTT) Certificate Course requirements*: · Complete courses for EC-12 certification plus: · INST 5333 Systematic Design of Technology-Based Instruction (3 hrs) · INST 5X1Z Assistive Technology (1 hr) (course to be developed) · TCED 5010 Mentoring and Cognitive Coaching (1 hr)
*Since the state is not scheduled to offer the EC-12 or 8-12 Technology Applications TExES until Fall 2004, candidates completing the program and applying to the State for the certificate prior to Fall 2004 are exempt from taking the EDUC 5010 Professional Examination Preparation course. Candidates completing the program AFTER Summer 2004 will be required to take the EC-12 or EC-8 Technology Applications State Examination. All MTT candidates must pass the State Examination that the State will offer Fall, 2004. If the exam is passed before the final semester of courses for any of the three certificates, EDUC 5010 will be waived.
Will the certificate courses count toward a UHCL Master’s degree in Instructional Technology? Yes, if you are admitted to the INST program as an INST degree-seeking student and, after admission to the INST program, you file a degree plan that includes the certificate.
Can I complete all the courses required for the EC-12 or the 8-12 certificate online? Yes, if completed no later than Summer 2004. After summer, you may be required to enroll in the Exam study course that may not be offered online.
How can I get the INST Master’s degree prerequisite INST 5035 course waived before beginning my coursework in Spring? PRIOR to the start of Spring classes you must:
be admitted to the INST program
file a degree plan with your assigned INST advisor who has to agreed to waive the INST 5035 prerequisite if you complete INST 5931 Research Topics: Trends and Issues.
Can I enroll in face-to-face courses without traveling to class once a week for fifteen weeks? Take the web-enhanced version (minimum eight face-to-face sessions) of the course, INST 6031 at the UHCL campus on one of several days/times.
How do I know which versions of INST 6031 are web-enhanced with a minimum of eight face-to-face meetings? All sections of INST 6031 that are NOT online sections are listed as web-enhanced.
Can I transfer courses from other universities to apply to the certificates? Maybe. You may appeal for a substitution that may be granted depending upon the course, its content (almost identical), when it was completed and when you will complete your certificate courses.
How do I enroll in any of these Technology Applications Certifications and have the courses earn credit toward the INST Master’s degree? Apply for admission to UHCL by submitting an application to the Office of Enrollment Services. If you are interested in obtaining the master’s degree, you should apply as a Graduate Degree Seeking student.
How do I enroll in any of these Technology Applications Certifications but do not wish the courses to apply to a Master’s degree? If you are earning a certification only, you will apply as a Graduate Non-Degree Seeking student. The School of Education Advising Center will prepare an official certification plan for you and will contact you by mail when your certification plan is ready for your signature.
