CTELL Activities

 

HOUSTON, August 6, 2008 — LouAnne Johnson (left), author of The New York Times bestseller Dangerous Minds addressed school administrators and secondary educators during the University of Houston-Clear Lake School of Education Collaborative Teaching of English Language Learners (CTELL) Summer Language Institute. Johnson is author of seven books including Teaching Outside the Box, and Queen of Education: Rules for Making Education Work. Johnson (right), in character, gave a reading as 16-year  old juvenile delinquent, Eddie Corazon, the protagonist of her new fiction book Yo! Eddie, who offers keen insights into today’s educational system. The book is scheduled for release in the fall.

CTELL is a U. S. Department of Education funded grant program that provides professional development opportunities related to educating English language learners for university faculty as well as for secondary public school teachers.
