Graduate Admission Procedure

Apply

Apply online or submit an admission application to the university by mail. Some majors require a dual application process. 

Pay

Pay the appropriate non-refundable application fee:
Standard graduate application fee- $35.00
Doctoral students-$95.00
International students-$75.00
Doctoral international students-$110.00

Submit transcripts

Degree seeking students should submit official transcripts from every college or university attended to the Office of Admissions. Master’s applicants should submit transcripts showing a bachelor’s degree earned. Doctoral applicants should provide transcripts showing a master’s degree earned. To expedite processing, request transcripts be sent electronically. Hand-delivered transcripts are accepted but not the preferred method of submission. They must be in a sealed envelope from the issuing institution and printed no more than 60 days prior to receipt by Admissions. Some programs may also require that you send official transcripts to the department of your major. International students should see International Admissions for additional requirements.

Submit test scores

Official GMAT, GRE or MAT scores must be submitted as required by the department of your major. Please see the catalog and/or Web site for the required scores. Scores must be sent directly from the testing agency. Test scores should not be more than five years old. Before submitting a test score, determine if you qualify for a graduate test score exemptions.

All students regardless of immigration status, who are citizens of countries where English is not the native language must demonstrate English proficiency. A score of 550 on the paper exam of the TOEFL is required with section scores of at least 50. A score of 213 is required on computer-based TOEFL scores. A minimum score of 6.0 is required on the IELTS and 79-80 on the ibt TOEFL. Scores cannot be more than two years old. Only scores sent from the testing center will be accepted. A waiver will be considered for applicants who have a bachelor’s degree from an approved accredited U.S. institution of higher education. Our Web site and catalog lists additional ways to qualify for a TOEFL waiver.

Submit supplemental documents

Applicants to the following programs should see the department’s Web site or section of the catalog for additional required documents such as letters of recommendation, letter of intent, etc.: Health Care Administration, Counseling, Professional Psychology majors (Family Therapy, Clinical Psychology and School Psychology), Doctorate, Applied Behavior Analysis and various majors in Science and Computer Engineering.

International students are required to submit additional documentation. Please see International Admissions for a complete listing of required documents.

Non-degree seeking students

Non-degree seeking students and teacher certification applicants should submit official transcripts from the institution where the highest degree was earned and from the last institution attended.

Receipt of admission decision

Once all of the required official documents are received, an admission decision will be made and you will be notified in writing. You can check the status of your application online by clicking the Check Status button on the Admissions home page. You will need your user ID and password. Each academic school has a different admission review process and the committees meet at various levels of frequency.
