You have been admitted, now what?

Congratulations on your recent admission to University of Houston-Clear Lake. We are excited to welcome you as a member of our community!

What's next?

  • Registration. The process of selecting and officially enrolling in courses. Register online for classes at www.uhcl. edu/eservices before you get to UHCL. Please refer to the Quick Reference Guide, at www.uhcl.edu/records, for dates.
  • Schedule changes. All F-1 and J-1 students must be enrolled full-time. Full-time enrollment for undergraduate students is 12 hours and 9 hours for graduate students. You may add and drop classes through late registration as long as full-time status is maintained. Please see your International Student Advisor before dropping a class.
  • Locate housing. There are many residential options near UHCL, but the most convenient is University Forest Apartments (UFA). UFA is on-campus housing. Healthcare Administration students should secure housing near the Texas Medical Center (refer to the enclosed housing list). To learn more about UFA, call 281-286-5959 or email UHCL@campushousing.com.
  • Transition. Arrive early to get familiar with the Clear Lake area and University of Houston-Clear Lake. If you are out of the country, you can enter only 30 days prior to the date on your SEVIS I-20 Form, section 9.
  • Airport Transportation. If you need transportation from the airport to UHCL, contact Intercultural and International Student Services at 281-283-2560 prior to your arrival.
  • Check In. As an F-1 or J-1 student, you are required to check-in with an International Student Advisor in the Office of Admissions. Please bring your I-20/DS-2019 and passport for check in. Please continue to check your e-mail for the latest dates and times.
  • Pay Tuition. Please check the Quick Reference Guide for tuition payment deadlines. Payment plans and short term loans are available at the Cashier’s Office.
  • Get student ID card. You can obtain your student ID card from the Office of Student Life in the Student Services and Classroom Building.
  • Purchase books and other supplies at the campus bookstore or online.
  • Attend International Student Orientation. E-mail Intercultural and International Student Services at www.uhcl.edu/international for more details.

You can also get help choosing courses from your distance education advisers at our off-campus locations. For more information, contact the Office of Distance and Off-Campus Education at 281-283-3031.

Your Student Assistance Center can help with registration.

If at anytime you need assistance with the registration process, contact the Student Assistance Center (SAC) at 281-283-2SAC (2722). SAC is your first stop for assistance for all non-academic questions.
