How UHCL calculates your transfer GPA
Before calculating your GPA:
- We wait till we have your official transcripts from all institutions attended.
- We check that you have at least 54 credit hours between the courses you have completed and those you are taking now (not counting remedial or developmental courses).
How we figure your GPA for transfer purposes:
- We take your grades on all academic course work (included grades on repeated courses) you have completed, except remedial and developmental courses. We do not consider grades on courses you have not yet completed.
- We change your letter grade into a number between 0 and 4:
A+, A, and A- count as 4.0 B+, B, and B- count as 3.0 C+, C, and C- count as 2.0 D+, D, and D- count as 1.0 Less than a D- counts as 0
- We multiply each numeric grade by the number of credit hours per course. Then we add them up and divide by the total number of credit hours to get your UHCL transfer GPA.
- Spring admissions: we count work completed through last summer.
- Summer admissions: we count work completed through last fall.
- Fall admissions: we count work completed through last spring.
