Your Advisors

Helping You Match Careers and Academics

Your career advancement plans are important to you and that's why they are important to us.

Our academic transfer advisors will help ensure that the courses you take at your community college will blend well with the courses you'll take at UHCL. If you're not quite sure which combination of academic programs and careers is best for you, we can help you explore a degree program that best uses your strengths and fits your personal, academic, and career goals.

Academic advising can be as formal or as informal as you like. Here are some of the benefits:

  • Talk with us about your plans and goals.
  • Ask us about the 2+2 Transfer Plans
  • Learn how your previous college course work will transfer to UHCL.
  • Find out what you need to know about technical rules like the "30 hour rule," "6 course drop," or “reverse articulation.”
  • Take interests and aptitudes assessments for feedback about your strengths and how they match your career and academic plans.
  • Follow-up as often as you like, by phone, email or a personal appointment.

After you're admitted to UHCL, we'll work with you to make sure that you select the right courses for your first semester here. We will also introduce you to the professional advisor you'll work with in one of our four schools, so that you get off to a strong start from the time you first enroll until your graduation day.
