Distinguished Alumni

The Distinguished Alumni Award honors University of Houston-Clear Lake graduates who have made significant contributions to society and whose accomplishments and careers have brought credit to the institution. The UHCL Alumni Association has presented the Distinguished Alumni Award since 1984.

Completed nomination forms must be submitted to the Office of Alumni and Community Relations no later than April 30 of each year. You may submit the form online or download a PDF version of the form. For more information, call 281-283-2021, or send an e-mail to alumni@uhcl.edu.

 

UHCL Distinguished Alumni Award Selection Criteria

Eligibility: A nominee is eligible to receive the Distinguished Alumni Award if they have received an undergraduate or graduate degree or certificate from UHCL and have substantially met at least two of the following criteria:

  1. Nominee must be distinguished in his or her chosen business, profession or life work, and has received some previous recognition from contemporaries.
  2. Nominee must be a person who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to community service; or,
  3. Nominee must be a person who, in deed and action, reflects and recognizes the importance of his or her education through involvement with the university or within their local community.

Number of Awards

The association shall confer the Distinguished Alumni Award on one or more individual(s) in any one year. The awards shall be conferred each year unless there are no qualified nominees.

50 Grand Events

Celebrate UHCL’s 50,000 alumni milestone throughout the 2009-10 academic year at one or more of the UHCL Alumni Association’s exciting events.

Activities planned include the premier of UHCL AlumNight in September, an AlumNight New Year’s Star Party in January and an Alumni Association Breakfast Roundtable in February.
