At the UHCL School of Business…

Ours is one of the nation’s first competency-based human resource management programs and the only accredited online graduate program of its kind in the region. Our School of Business is accredited by AACSB International-The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. We are also certified by the Society for Human Resource Management, a distinction held by less than 150 programs nationwide.

Whether a full-time student or working professional, a comprehensive degree is within your reach. Our program is designed to focus on five essential competency areas: core human resource processes; general business management; strategic decision making; change management; and personal mastery and influence. And, because of the global nature of business, especially in the Houston area, the necessity to understand labor markets abroad is integrated into the program.

Our internship and co-op programs are

great opportunities to create connections

and get real-world experience before

you graduate. You can also get involved on campus with the student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management, which offers professional development, networking, career advancement opportunities and a professional certification program.

What Can You Do with a Degree in Human Resource Management?

Our program will prepare you to pursue a variety of careers in the human resource field such as compensation and benefits specialist, Human Resource manager, labor relations manager, organizational effectiveness specialist, recruiter or training and development director. In addition, Houston is home to many petrochemical and aerospace company headquarters, and two large healthcare centers (TMC and UTMB) which means graduates don’t have to relocate to work for a large Human Resource department.

Our Faculty

Our faculty hold PhDs, are certified professionals, experts in their respective areas, and are well published. Many are still professionally active in consulting for organizational development, teamwork and employment law issues. No human resource management classes are taught by graduate assistants.
