Bilingual Administrator Certificate Awards Ceremony
On Thursday, May 13, 2005 more that one hundred people including CBAT Cohort I participants, their families, mentors and staff from the University of Houston-Clear Lake attended the Bilingual Administrator Certificate Awards Ceremony. At the ceremony, Dr. Dennis Spuck, Dean of the School of Education, and Dr. James Sherrill, Associate Dean, presented Bilingual Administrator Certificates, an institutional certificate awarded by the University of Houston-Clear Lake, to each person completing the CBAT Program. These certificates recognize the additional coursework and specialized training provided by the CBAT Program to prepare graduates to be successful leaders in school with high population of English language learners. Patty DeLaCruz-Ramos, a member of CBAT Cohort I, speaking on behalf of all participants reflected on their journey though the program as well as expressing appreciation for the support of family, mentors and UHCL staff.

Graduating with a Master’s Degree in Educational Management
Friday, May 13, 2005 was a special day for CBAT Cohort I participants when they crossed the stage at Reliant Stadium and were presented a master’s degree in Educational Management from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. By their last year in the program, three CBAT Cohort I participants had been named to assistant principal positions in their respective school districts. Additionally, four had been named to instructional leadership roles or to positions for coordinating parent involvement/volunteer programs.

Support of Administrators in Mentoring CBAT Cohort I Participants
CBAT Cohort I participants identified mentors for the 2003-2003 school year. These mentors interacted with CBAT participants throughout their graduate program to enrich classroom learning by assisting CBAT participants in making connections between educational theory and its practical application at the school level. Much of the credit for the success of CBAT Cohort I participants goes to these dedicated professionals who mentored them at this critical period of professional development.
