Assisting Growth Through Goal Setting

College Students often do not succeed in college due to lack of realistic goals and plans for goal achievement. This 1 ½ hour workshop will provide an overview of Goal Setting Theory and the research pointing to the need for goals. Participants will also work through goal setting exercises that can be used with college students.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Understand the relevancy of Goal Setting Theory and identify a student’s current goal level.
- Relate student’s self-efficacy to goals and develop strategies to assist students to develop appropriate, attainable goals based on their expected level of effort and persistence.
- Practice activities and exercises that they can use with students.
