PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The goals of the Collaborative School Librarian Training (CSLT II) Project Grant are to recruit and prepare school librarians to collaborate with school administrators and to collaborate and work with diverse and disadvantaged students to ensure that all students achieve academic success. The school librarian is an integral part of a school’s team of professionals, providing services at the elementary, middle or high school level. This program equips candidates with the theories and practices of library and information science and leadership through the study of the foundations, principles, and ideas of the discipline, including those related to management, selection of children’s and young adult literature, cataloging and classification, reference and bibliography, and the latest training in electronic media and technology. Candidates selected for the CSLT II grant will have free tuition and most fees paid.
