Accessing eBooks and Vault

UHCL has subscriptions to Vault and various eLibraries (i.e., NetLibrary and ebrary).
When you select these options you are sent to the appropriate UHCL library web page.

Off-Campus Login
If you are off-campus, enter 200 + your 7 digit UHCL student ID number at the login screen to access Vault or an ebook.  Example: 2000987456. On-campus pcs automatically login.

Single eBook Viewing
When you click a single ebook link, you go to the eLibrary's listing for that ebook, like NetLibrary. Most ebooks use Adobe Reader, except ebrary which requests to download its own reader. Once in the elibrary, you will be prompted if you need to download a different reader. There are 2 options - view or check out an ebook. Example: View this eBook | Checkout for 24 Hours.  Most choose view.

Page Thru a Single eBook

• NetLibrary:  Click   - the red Next button above the book text.
  If only a part of the page fits on your screen, press enter to display the next part of the page.
• ebrary:  Click  - the blue right arrow above the book text or use your mouse scroll wheel.

eBook Series Viewing
When you click a link for a series of ebooks, you go to UHCL's library catalog with your selection. Click UHCL electronic book access link to go to the eLibrary that holds your ebook selection. You may have to scroll down to see the Electronic Access table. You will see a link like  UHCL users only: Connect to this ebook. After selecting an ebook, follow the directions for single ebook viewing.

Vault Viewing
Most resources in Vault are html pages. Some, like the Industry Career Guides are in pdf format and require Acrobat Reader. Vault provides a link to download the latest version of Acrobat Reader for free. These pdf files are stored on your pc under My Documents -> My Digital Editions.

eBook and Vault Session Time Out
If you get a session time out message, close the browser window that gave you the error (i.e., NetLibrary, ebrary, or Vault). Select the ebook or Vault link for a second time and a new session will be started with your selection.
