Classroom Presentations and Activities

Upon request, a career counselor will give a presentation either as a guest speaker during a portion of your class or as a substitute lecturer when you are out of town on

Co-operative Education/Internship

Students can gain on-the-job experience, earn money, and get university credit for their work with flexible work schedules. Comprehensive details are available online.

CareerLink: Resume Database and Employer Job Postings 

Student subscribers can

  • Upload multiple resumes with optional cover letters and writing samples into an employer-searchable database
  • Review job listings online
  • Be referred for jobs when requested by employers  
  • On-campus interviews possible usually Oct-Nov and Feb-Apr
  • Research employers who have contacted UHCL in the past

Job Fairs

Job fairs provide no-cost opportunities for student, alumni, and community members to meet employers, apply for positions and explore opportunities in the professional job market. In addition to the Gulf Coast and Teacher Job Fairs job fairs we host on-campus, we co-sponsor the spring Texas Job Fair, with 70- 120 employers hosted at a Houston-area school.

On-Campus Student Employment

Students may apply for on-campus student jobs (not Work-Study jobs) submitted by departments and other on-campus employers. Applications are online and usually screened by Career Services.

    Employer profiles and extensive library of 80+ career guides targeted to different occupations and job search activities, like interviewing. Off-campus users enter name and library barcode (200 + student id). Offered jointly with UHCL's Neumann Library
