Academic Advising for Distance Learning

Help is Easy to Find

We can help you at every stage of your online or off-campus degree program from before you enroll to graduation and beyond. We can advise you online (by email), by telephone, and in person at our off-campus locations.

Have a Question for an DE Advisor?

Ask a DE Academic Advisor by completing the Ask DE Online Form.

How We Help You

We can help you with just about anything related to earning your degree. We have listed some of the most common areas here. If you need assistance with something you don't see here, ask us about it.

  • Evaluating your transfer credits

  • Explaining the requirements of our academic programs

  • Help you choose a degree program

  • Picking an academic program that matches your career goals

  • Registering for classes

  • Understanding our academic policies and procedures

We will help you explore career choices, and we will assist you in understanding what it takes to prepare for any career you select. When you have questions about UHCL policies, we can explain and let you know how to follow them. We will check your Candidate Plan of Study (CPS) to measure your progress toward graduation.

Here to Ensure Your Success

It is not unusual for people to have unexpected problems come up while taking courses. No matter how well organized or academically prepared you are, things can change and throw you off schedule.

Student Success Center

The Student Success Center at UHCL partners with Academic Advising to aid in your success by providing: online tutoring, supplemental instruction and academic skills development. To learn more about these services and how to access them go to www.uhcl.edu/studentsuccesscenter.

If you have conflicts between career and study plans you did not anticipate, get in touch with us. Often we can point you to UHCL resources you might have overlooked. Your information is always confidential. We will do whatever we can so you can stay on the path to your degree.
