Faculty and Staff
As the Dean of Students, one of my primary goals is to help develop a learning environment that allows us to achieve and sustain the academic mission of the university. In my efforts to achieve this goal, it is important for all faculty members to feel comfortable to teach and engage students in an academic setting that is free of behaviors that are: disruptive, disrespectful, threaten, demanding, and dominating. In our community of scholars we must clearly establish the expectation that civility and respect are a part of the daily interactions between both faculty and students, and anything less will not be tolerated.
I am convinced that we can create such an environment; however, I believe we will have to start at the “Grassroots” level. You should know my office can and will serve as a resource tool for you. As a fellow educator, I look forward to working with you to ensure we continue enhancing the academic integrity of UHCL.
