The first EIH/UHCL Collaborative Teacher Recognition Ceremony was held on Thursday, September 14 at the Houston Zoo. Twenty-three teachers from four Houston-area school districts were honored at the evening ceremony. Guests included Dr. Kamil A. Jbeily, Executive Director, Texas Regional Collaboratives; Dr. William Staples, President, UHCL; Dr. Edward Hayes, Provost, UHCL; Thomas D. Hutchins, Director of Environmental, Health and Safety, El Paso Corporation; and Dr. Dennis Spuck, Dean, School of Education, UHCL. Guest speaker for the evening was Senator Mike Jackson.

Certificates of achievement were presented as evidence of dedication to life-long learning and commitment to the teaching profession.
