Texas Envirothon

Texas Envirothon

The Envirothon is the largest high school environmental competition, open to any high school student (grades 9 - 12). The Envirothon is an integrated educational experience that will enhance your students' knowledge and environmental literacy. Over the course of several months of study, participants will prepare themselves for testing in wildlife biology, forestry, aquatic science, soil science, and current environmental issues. The competition fosters cooperation and teamwork.

Teams of five students are tested not only on their basic knowledge of the main topic areas, but also on their ability to apply that knowledge to solving real-life problems. In the final event of the contest, students will prepare a presentation on an assigned topic. Winners at the state level will have an opportunity to compete at the national contest and to win substantial scholarships and gifts.

Academy of Science and Technology from The Woodlands wins the 2014 Texas Envirothon
Academy of Science and Technology Team Alligator placed first at the Texas Envirothon which took place April 5–7, 2014, at the University of Houston-Clear Lake campus in Houston, Texas. Woodlands College Park Team 2 placed second, while Richardson High School Team C took third place. Academy of Science and Technology Team Alligator will represent Texas in the Regional Envirothon to be held in Manhattan, Kan., July 22-25, 2014.
