SMART Grant Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for a SMART Grant, you must:

• Be a U.S. citizen
• Be a Federal Pell Grant recipient
• Be enrolled half-time in a degree program in a four-year degree-granting institution.
• Be in third or fourth year of undergraduate study
• Major in physical, life or computer science, engineering, mathematics, technology, or a critical foreign language
• Have at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale in the coursework required for your major

When you submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you are automatically considered for the National SMART Grant by the post secondary school listed on the FAFSA. If you meet all the eligibility requirements, we will award the grant.
