Scholarships

The Office of Student Financial Aid is committed to awarding scholarships to students consistent with the educational mission of our university. UHCL serves a diverse student population from the state, nation, and abroad, although most of our students come from the Houston-Galveston metropolitan area.

UHCL administers scholarships for the following groups:

• Future UHCL students
• Future Houston-area college students
• Current/Continuing UHCL students who are currently enrolled at UHCL or have been enrolled at UHCL in the past and plan to continue their education at UHCL.

Good News for International and Out-of-State Students
Most UHCL scholarships are considered “competitive”. Students who receive a “competitive” scholarship who are not Texas residents may be eligible for a waiver of the non-resident portion of tuition. There are minimum award requirements and the waiver is only applicable to the academic year the award is received.
