Dollars for Scholars Scholarship

 New Graduate Students or New Non-Resident Undergraduate Students
(not eligible for Automatic Transfer Scholarship) may apply for Dollars for Scholars. 

You may begin the Dollars for Scholars application once you have applied to UHCL and paid the application fee.
You must be enrolled and meet the Terms and Conditions to access your scholarship.

Eligibility

• Planning to attend the University of Houston-Clear Lake for the first time
• Degree-seeking
• Graduate student - resident / non-resident 
                  OR Undergraduate student who does NOT qualify for in-state tuition*
• Enrolling in a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester 
• Proven academic ability
• Must have a UHCL identification number (assigned after application and application fee have been processed)

*Students who are eligible for the Automatic Transfer Student Scholarship, will not be considered for a Dollars for Scholars Scholarship.

Deadlines

Summer/Fall semesters:  priority deadline is April 1; final deadline is May 15
Spring semester: priority deadline is September 1; final deadline is October 15

Dollars for Scholars has gone paperless with STARS, our online application system.  It is available to students who plan to begin taking classes at UHCL for the first time in spring 2010 or beyond.  Paper applications will no longer be accepted. 

Dollars for Scholars Application Instructions:

1) Prepare a Word Document with the following information:

Your Full Name (first, middle, last)

Your UHCL ID number

Your Date of Birth (MM/DD/YYYY)

Your address, please include the name of your Home Country

Save this document as a Word.doc and use your name as the document name

2) Click here to log on to STARS

 Enter a user name and click Start Here

 Answer all questions

  International students, please follow these special instructions when answering the questions.

   City:  enter Houston
   Zip:  enter 77058
   State: select Internantional
   County:   International will  populate if you select International for State
   
3) Upload your Word document when prompted

4) Select 'Apply Now' for Dollars for Scholars

 Make sure you meet the criteria shown

5) Select 'Apply Now'
