Dollars for Scholars Scholarship

The Spring 2014 Dollars for Scholars online application will be available September 1st.  Paper applications are not acceptable.

Eligibility requirements:

1. Spring 2014 is first semester as a UHCL graduate student or first semester as a non-resident undergraduate
2. Must enroll in a minimum of 6 UHCL credit hours
3. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher (as recalculated by UHCL)
4. Must have UHCL Admissions Application on file
5. Must have paid Admission Application fee
6. Must have a UHCL identification number

Admission to UHCL is NOT required to apply, but you MUST be unconditonally admitted by the final deadline to be considered for an award.

Dollars for Scholars is a competitive scholarship based on 3 criteria:

• exceptional merit
• date of unconditional admit
• date of scholarship application

Deadline

Spring Priority Deadline is September 15/Final Deadline is November 1st

Award: the initial award is $1,000  for spring 2014. Non-Texas Residents and International students who receive the DFS are eligible to pay Texas resident tuition for the academic year of the award which is spring 2014 & summer 2014.

DFS is renewable for 2 additional semesters

Personal Information

• Answer each question
• Ethnicity: Every one selects N/A
• Country: If you select something other than United States of America your State and County selection will be “other”
• Home Phone: List the phone number in which we can reach you - Do NOT list any other phone numbers
• UHCL Student ID #: Enter your 7 digit UHCL ID number - This must be correct. If you make an error here your name will not appear on the applicant list

• Answer each question
• Exp. Graduation Date: the month and year that you plan to graduate
• GPA: Estimate your GPA
• College attended after graduation: select University of Houston-Clear Lake
• Admitted to UHCL: Answer yes if you have been unconditionally admitted. Answer no if you have not been admitted yet.
• Earned credits: If this is your first semester at UHCL, you have earned zero credits

Confirmation

There is no confirmation that you submitted your application successfully. You will need to check it for yourself. After you have applied for the Dollars for Scholars Scholarship log completely out of STARS.

Log back in and select one of the “edit” boxes – Select Recommended Scholarships – View Scholarship Status - a successful application will look like this:

When you click on Done Applying for Scholarships you will be logged out and you are finished.

Dollars for scholars is a highly competitive scholarship. Not all students who apply will receive a scholarship, UHCL reserves the right to change or modify this program at anytime.
