Eligibility requirements:

1. Fall 2012 is first semester as a UHCL graduate student or first semester as a non-resident undergraduate
2. Must enroll in a minimum of 6 UHCL graduate credit hours
3. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher (as recalculated by UHCL)
4. Must have UHCL Admissions Application on file
5. Must have paid Admission Application fee
6. Must have a UHCL identification number

Admission to UHCL is NOT required to apply,  but you MUST be unconditonally admitted by the final deadline to be considered for an award. 

Dollars for Scholars is a competitive scholarship based on 3 criteria:

• exceptional merit
• date of unconditional admit 
• date of scholarship application

Deadline:
Fall priority deadline is April 15, 2012   /   Fall final deadline is May 15, 2012

Award:
The initial award is $1,000 / pay out is $500/fall 2012  &  $500/spring 2013
Non-Texas Residents and International students who reveive the DFS are eligible to pay Texas resident tuition for the duration of the award, fall 2012, spring 2013 & summer 2013

DFS is renewable for 2 additional semesters:
$500/fall 2013 & $500 spring 2014
Renewal DFS recipients are eligible to continue to pay Texas resident tuition:
fall 2013, spring 2014 & summer 2014

Renewal criteria is:
Continue to enroll in at least 6 graduate credit hours each semster
Maintain academic good standing
