Mascot Search Process
How do we find a mascot for UHCL? The process starts with you...

All UH-Clear Lake students, alumni, faculty, staff and university friends are invited to submit mascot ideas to the Mascot Leadership Team. An online survey form prompts individuals to provide the reason why they think the option is a good choice to represent the spirit of UHCL.
The Mascot Advisory Team, which includes representatives from all key constituent groups, will assist the Mascot Leadership Team in ranking the top five to 10 mascot ideas submitted.
With approval by the university president, the top five mascot options will be submitted to UH System Legal Counsel to investigate trademark and legal issues. Any options with trademark infringement issues will be eliminated.
Phase One Report

Students, alumni, faculty and staff are invited to submit graphic images for the top mascot options to the Mascot Leadership Team.
The Mascot Advisory Team will recommend final image concepts to the Mascot Leadership Team for further development and consideration.
With approval by the university president, selected image concepts will be professionally refined and developed.

The Mascot Leadership Team will oversee and manage the professional refinement of the image concepts and will seek input from the Mascot Advisory Team throughout the creative development process. Professional refinement of concepts will be approved by the president prior to general voting.

Students, alumni, faculty, staff and university friends are invited to vote on the professionally refined mascot image concepts. A market research agency will concurrently test the mascot concepts with prospective students. All input gathered from the constituency voting and market research process will guide the selection of the mascot image.

The new mascot will be unveiled to the university community.
