Counseling and assessment for psychological problems are available during day and evenings hours, Monday-Thursday, during regular academic semesters. Medical treatment, medication, crisis intervention and primary substance abuse treatment are not available through UHCL Psychological Services, though adjunctive counseling for persons receiving psychiatric, substance abuse or other treatment elsewhere is sometimes possible.

Fees for services are assessed on a sliding scale based on family income. The cost for services is generally lower than that of private clinics and individual practitioners. While services are not provided free of charge, the clinic has a goal to serve persons without regard to income, including those with limited ability to pay.
