History
Come join us in making history . . .
Can you build a career with a degree in history?
Yes. You can use your bachelor's or master's degree to bring history to the public by getting involved with preservation efforts to protect the important places of our past. You can work with historical societies and museums, serving as an administrator or exhibit designer.
In the bachelor's program, students may pursue teaching certification in Grades 8-12 History or Grades 8-12 Social Studies.
You may also combine your bachelor's or master's degree in history with Master of Library Information Science degree to become an archivist or librarian.
Your education in history will also prepare you for careers in business, journalism, or law.
We offer tremendous research opportunities. Our library serves as home to the archives of the Johnson Space Center, a collection of international importance. Our students have access to the collection of the entire University of Houston System libraries, and have access to materials from all over America through interlibrary loans. You will enjoy our small classes where you will learn European, Latin American, and American history.
