UHCL’s School Psychology Program is the first master’s program in Texas approved by
the National Association of
School Psychologists.

School Psychology - Degrees

Specialist in School Psychology (SSP)
The full SSP program contains two years of course work and a third year of paid internship in the public schools. The internship, under the supervision of a licensed psychologist who is also a licensed specialist in school psychology, enables you to begin functioning in the professional role. Internship placements are made in settings appropriate to your career goals.

Graduates of the UHCL School Psychology program are eligible to sit for the examinations to become a:
• Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA)
• Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP)
• Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP)

If you already have a graduate degree and need additional preparation for state licensure, the School Psychology program can develop a modified program for you.
