University of Houston-Clear Lake

Welcome to the FHP and EHS home pages.  We hope you find the information on this page useful in making your academic and career decisions. UHCL offers a B.S. in Fitness and Human Performance with several different sub specializations: Exercise Science, Health Promotions, or Pre-Clinical (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Chiropractic, or Physicians Assistant).

Graduate students in the Exercise and Health Sciences can enroll in one of two concentration areas: Public Health or Sport Science.  The sport science concentration is recognized by the National Strength & Conditioning Association. Qualifying students may also choose to enroll in the joint DC-MS program offered in conjunction with the Texas Chiropractic College.

Graduates of the FHP and EHS programs have held jobs as strength & conditioning coaches in the NBA, NFL, minor league baseball, and at the collegiate level. Some work as exercise physiologists, scientists, health promotion coordinators, fitness specialists, personal trainers and many other jobs. Others have continued their education in physical therapy schools, physician assistant schools, and doctorate programs. All leave UHCL with a sound theoretical and practical knowledge of exercise and the opportunity to work in a truly rewarding field.

"Find something that you love to do and find somebody to pay you to do it,
and you’ll never have to work a day in your life."
