Step 1:
Admission to the University of Houston-Clear Lake

All UHCL students begin their studies at other colleges or universities.  After completing the first two years of undergraduate course work known as the Texas Core, students transfer to UHCL in their junior year to complete courses in their chosen major field.

1. To earn the Bachelor of Social Work degree, you should complete courses listed in the 2+2 Transfer Plan for Social Work.  The following courses must be included in your 2+2 transfer plan:

One of the following science courses:

• Human Biology or General Biology or Anatomy and Physiology

Additionally, you should include these courses in your 2+2 transfer plan:

• Introduction to Psychology
• Introduction to Sociology 

Your college advisor can help you select courses that will meet these requirements.

2. Once you decide to continue your studies at the University of Houston–Clear Lake, contact us for assistance and advice.   We want your transition to UHCL and the Social Work program to be as smooth as possible.

 

3. Apply for admission to the University of Houston–Clear Lake as you complete your 2+2 transfer requirements.  Admission to UHCL is based on a review of each student’s transcript.  Generally, students must complete a minimum of 54 hours of course content and satisfactorily completed freshman and sophomore years.
