Women's Studies B.A. Curriculum

with optional Concentration in Latina/Latino Studies

(1) Students are required to take a minimum of 12 hours under the WMST rubric;
(2) Students may elect to complete a Concentration in Latina/Latino Studies by taking 12 hours of courses in that field of study. The mark ??? indicates courses which could count toward the Concentration. Please note that some of these (such as the Independent Study in Women's Studies) may require Instructor approval, and that you may need to discuss these specifics with your advisor while completing a Candidate Plan of Study;
(3) The number of hours required for a Women's Studies Major is 54 (not including core curriculum and/or other requirements that are necessary for graduation).

Concentrations
Concentration in Latina/Latino Studies
Women's Studies Majors may elect to complete a concentration in Latina/Latino Studies. A minimum of 12 hours of coursework is required. Courses that could count towards this concentration include: Women of Color in the U.S., Latin American Feminisms, Women and Work in Latin America, Latinas in the U.S., Studies in Latin American History, Colonial Latin America, Modern Latin America, History of Mexico. Other courses, including "Topics" courses and Independent Studies may also count, with instructor approval.
Concentrations in Women's Studies
If you are interested in completing a concentration in Women's Studies, you must complete the online Concentration Registration Form prior to your date of graduation. All concentrations require the completion of a minimum of 9 hours of coursework in Women's Studies. The specifics are noted below:
Undergraduate Concentration Requirements
Concentrations can be earned in any major field of study. The requirements are a minimum of 9 hours (or 3 courses) in Women's Studies.
Graduate Concentration Requirements
Requirements for a Women's Studies Concentration within a Master of Arts in Humanities degree: 12 hours of Women's Studies courses as part of a 30 or 36 hour degree plan, including the Seminar in Women's Studies (PSYC/HUMN/WMST 5732).
Requirements for a Women's Studies Concentration within a Master of Arts in Behavioral Sciences Degree: 9 hours of Women's Studies courses, including the Seminar in Women's Studies (PSYC/HUMN/WMST 5732).
