Robert Bartsch is an Associate Professor of Psychology and the Division Chair of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Bartsch grew up in west Texas and found his way to Houston for his undergraduate degree at Rice University. He then went to the University of Colorado-Boulder and received his PhD in 1996. He took his first teaching job at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. After five years at UTPB, he had an opportunity to come back to Houston and started teaching at UHCL. Dr. Bartsch has published a total of 24 articles which include 13 different student co-authors.

At UHCL, Dr. Bartsch has been convener of the psychology program and co-director of the university's Teaching-Learning Enhancement Center. He is currently a member of the Texas Faculty Development Network Executive Board and a consulting editor of the journal Teaching of Psychology. His hobbies include hiking, running, and science fiction.
