Eligibility Interlibrary loan service is available to UHCL students. Only materials not owned by Neumann Library may be requested through Interlibrary Loan. Titles that are prescribed as course textbooks at UHCL will not be requested through ILL.
If your affiliation is with another UH campus or area college or university, please use the interlibrary loan services at your home institution's library.

Procedure for Requesting Material Click the Book Request Form tab or the Article Request Form tab above and fill in the information for your request.
Interlibrary Loan requests cannot be accepted by telephone. To avoid delays in processing your request, please complete all information requested. Check with a Reference Librarian (281-283-3910) or a member of the Interlibrary Loan staff (281-283-3906) if you have any questions. The library does not process requests for patrons who have overdue materials.
|
Delivery of Materials The length of time it takes to receive materials depends upon the shipping method employed by the lending library. Most libraries now send articles electronically, but other shipping methods may take up to a couple of weeks. On average, please allow a minimum of ten days to receive items requested. Books and copies of journal articles usually are provided without charge. Requests from students will be subsidized up to $35.00 per request. ** PLEASE NOTE: We are now required to send all UHCL notifications and communications through your UHCL email account. **

Copyright U.S. Copyright law may place restrictions on the number of articles a patron may request. Libraries requesting photocopies of articles from journals published in the last five years must limit those requests to: a) one article per issue of a journal for an individual, and b) five articles per journal for the institution. When limits have been reached for the year, the library will pay required copyright royalty fees if possible. A Reference Librarian or Interlibrary Loan staff member can explain the limitations.

Return of Materials Copies obtained through Interlibrary Loan become the property of the library user. Books must be returned to the Circulation Desk. NEVER PLACE INTERLIBRARY LOAN BOOKS IN THE BOOK DROPS OR THE CIRCULATION DESK SLOT. It is very important to return books on time so that the library's ability to borrow from other libraries is not jeopardized. Interlibrary loan books are checked out to your patron record. If you need a renewal for an ILL book, please request it three days BEFORE THE DUE DATE. Apply for renewals in the Interlibrary Loan office or by telephone (281-283-3906). Renewals are at the discretion of the lending library. See Library Location Maps for location of the Circulation Desk.
