If you are teaching or developing a UH-Clear Lake distance education or online course, librarians are available to help you (and your instructional designer, if applicable) identify supporting library resources and determine how best to provide access to these resources for your students.
Persistent Links to Fulltext Articles, eBooks, and Videos from Library Databases Because of license and copyright law restrictions governing the use of subscription databases, persistent links can only be used where authentication is available. To place links to journal articles from library databases on a class website or WebCT or Blackboard course page, you must add the authentication prefix (http://libproxy.uhcl.edu/login?url=) to the beginning of the persistent link URL. For instructions, see the document Linking to Library Database Articles (if desired, see video demonstrating how to link to an article and the document). See also Linking to Library eBooks and Linking to Videos in Neumann Library Databases.
If you have questions about linking to various library resources, please contact Karen Berrish, Associate Director for Digital Services, at (281)283-3919 or by email at berrish@uhcl.edu. See also information further below about course reserves.
Library Instructional Services
Customized online course resources
If your students are required to use numerous electronic resources and portions of the library web site, you may want a librarian to create an online guide for your course. The library course guide (example) will have a unique URL to which you can link from your own course page or course management software (see also Blackboard Tools Link for Library Guides). The contents can include research databases, annotated resource links, bibliographies, video tutorials, how-to guides, etc., to fit the needs of your students. Please contact your library liaison or Susan Steele, Coordinator of Library Instructional Services, to request this service.
Face-to-face library instruction sessions can be arranged for online courses or offsite locations. For courses taught at Pearland, please contact Neeta Jambhekar. For courses taught at UHS Sugar Land, please contact Ashley Schmidt, Academic Liaison Librarian, University Branch, Fort Bend County Libraries. For other offsite courses, please contact Susan Steele, Coordinator of Library Instructional Services, at (281)283-3915 or by email.
Course Reserves
Neumann Library processes reserve materials for University of Houston-Clear Lake classes at UHCL, UHCL Pearland Campus, UHS Cinco Ranch, and UHS Sugar Land. These materials may be from the Neumann Library collection, your personal materials, or electronic files. If you have questions, you may contact Frances Weeks (281-283-3918 or weeks@uhcl.edu).

Film / Video / DVD
Neumann Library now offers a NEW collection of educational DVDs and videocassettes for classroom use, or for class assignments (or for individual checkout.) Films from many different countries are also included.
See what we have added by checking the library catalog or looking through the collection. Your liaison librarian will be happy to identify new videos/DVDs in your program area. Just inquire by email or phone. If you anticipate using a particular video/DVD for your class, your liaison librarians will purchase the video for you if it is available.
Streaming Video
We now offer faculty the option of delivering course materials via streaming video. They can be accessed from any computer with Internet capabilities, thus providing students with 24-hour access to video materials for your current courses. Please read the guidelines for details.
