His passion for education and commitment towards diversity inspire Sameer Pande to serve as the Assistant Director, Intercultural & International Student Services, at the University of Houston- Clear Lake (UHCL). He enjoys working with people and has mentored countless students as they evaluate their career choices, and make crucial decisions about their future. He currently oversees areas of Intercultural, International, Women and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender (LGBT) Services. He is also an adjunct faculty in the School of Science and Computer Engineering (SCE).

He is a recipient of the University’s first Extra Mile Award for his dedication to evacuation of UHCL’s international students during Hurricane Rita, Organizational Advisor of the Year Award, the International Education Award, the Student Services Best Practice Award & the Meritorious Service Key Award.  In 2007, he was awarded the Early Achievement Award by the UHCL Alumni Association.

His educational background includes a graduate degree in Forestry, a Master of Science in Management Information Systems (MIS) and a Doctorate in Forestry. As a student at UHCL, he was very active, serving as an international student peer adviser, an orientation leader, President of the MIS organization and vice president of the Student Government Association. His leadership involvement includes serving as founding President of UHCL Community Toastmasters, board member of the Professional & Administrative Staff Association (PASA) where he is currently the President Elect.

He has a number of published articles and a book of short stories to his credit.
