Supporting the University

Gifts from our alumni, community members and faculty/staff members provide important support to UHCL. As a donor, you strengthen our ability to serve students and provide much needed support to other areas such as the library, computing technology, scholarships, new opportunities and filling in the gap left by decreasing operating budgets. Cumulative gifts of $1,000 or more in a calendar year from individuals automatically includes these donors as members of the President's Cabinet, a leadership-giving acknowledgement level.

  • Art Gallery
Bay Area Houston’s premier venue for visual arts created by living artists. Ongoing financial support enables the gallery to offer richer educational programs throughout the year including public lectures, artist demonstrations and hands-on art-making activities, as well as provide a range of exciting exhibitions.

  • Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities
The Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities opened in March 2008 to support research on autism and developmental disabilities, train current and future professionals, and to provide services to children and their families through partnerships with community organizations. Ongoing financial support of this program enables the center to expand and enhance services.

  • Endowments
Endowments are gifts that "keep on giving" and are attractive forms of support because of the lasting benefits they create. They are also the funding foundation of a university. As donated funds are invested in perpetuity by the University of Houston System, the income earned is used exclusively for the purpose designated by donors. Because the original contribution is preserved, and a portion of the interest reinvested, endowments provide a permanent source of financial support for pressing needs and emerging opportunities. Contributions to endowments help ensure the continued growth of the university for future generations.

  • Liberty Bell
Created to raise awareness of the evolution of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the continuing impact of these historic documents in our daily lives. Ongoing support of this project will help the university develop educational courses for students and program materials for the general public.

  • Naming Opportunities
UHCL’s naming opportunities offer the unique ability for university friends to honor themselves and loved ones through a wide range of options including engraved pavers displayed in Alumni Plaza to university classrooms or entire buildings.

  • Planned Giving
There are many ways to support UHCL, but when you plan a gift to us as part of your long-term estate and financial plans, you will support our students and programs far into the future while still ensuring that your loved ones are taken care of. Use the tools and resources above to find a plan that fits your goals.

  • Where Needed Most
This unrestricted fund designation allows the university to respond quickly to new unplanned opportunities, execute special projects and offer more scholarships.

Donor Recognition
UHCL gratefully acknowledges individuals, businesses, and organizations who give financially to enhance the educational experiences of our students and Bay Area Houston community. As a special way of saying "thank you" to our university friends, UHCL has established special donor recognition levels.
