September General Meeting

Katherine Justice from HR explained the pay plan process.  She made a presentation to inform us of all the information gathering HR completes in order to compare our salaries with our market.  She also explained the processes they go through to keep the pay plan cost within the limits of the budget passed through our shared governance process.

October General Meeting

Dr. Carl Stockton our Sr. Vice President and Provost joined us in October.  Dr. Stockton shared his ideas of where to take UHCL in the future.  He also discussed the possiblity of moving to a four-year institution. 

November General Meeting

Dr. Yvette Bendeck and Rauchelle Jones  presented in November.  Dr. Bendeck is the AVP of Enrollment Management and Rauchelle Jones is our Director of Admissions.  They both presented information about UHCL's current enrollment numbers and the downward trend.  Dr. Bendeck asked the group to play an active role in student recruitment and retention and with the future changes that are coming in these areas, to have your departments be acceptable of change. 

December General Meeting

Jo Anne Laborde  our PASA President led us in having a wonderful holiday breakfast meeting.

January General Meeting

Paul Willingham  our Chief of Police made a presentation on his new direction for the Police Department.  He explained about speeding tickets, new uniforms, new programs and more initiatives he would like to see the Police Department provide to UHCL.

February General Meeting

Nichole Eslinger  HR's new Worklife and Employment Coordinator presented the new types of services UHCL will be offering our employees.  The services are to help us with improving our approach to a new healthy and productive work environment.  Watch for upcoming notices to employees about exciting new opportunities and services from HR.

April Joint PASA/SSA Meeting

President Staples and Provost Stockton  presented the UHCL priorities and had a Q&A sesssion for staff.  Vice President Dotter was unable to make the session.

May General Meeting

Dr. Yvette Bendeck  the AVP of Enrollment Management presented the upcoming Degree Audit System that will be added to Self-Service for our students beginning in the Fall 2008.  This will help students keep track of classes needed to graduate in their plan.

June General Meeting

Chuck Crocker  the Associate Director of Career and Counseling Services at UHCL presented Succeeding Through Your Strengths for PASA members.  This was a very enlightening and thought provoking presentation.  Thanks Chuck!

July General Meeting

Nancy Weise  the Asst. Director of HR/Benefits Coordinator informed PASA members of our Health care benefit changes.  Highlights include no increase in premium, Medco changing to CareMark and there is now a $24 fee for Flex Accounts.
