Learning a foreign language can enhance career goals and expand personal horizons. Group classes meet weekly for seven weeks to learn French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Russian and Spanish at beginner to advanced levels. New student fees are $135 and returning students are $115. Private lessons are also available. Registration runs through Oct. 12, with classes beginning Oct. 12 and ending Dec. 4. Ventriloquist to perform at UH-Clear Lake

Enjoy an evening of family entertainment when nationally recognized ventriloquist, puppeteer and comedian Michael Harrison takes the stage. Harrison has appeared on “America’s Got Talent,” aboard the Disney Cruise Line and shared the stage with The Muppets and Boyz to Men. A complimentary reception will be held after the concert. UH-Clear Lake Student Leadership Conference

UH-Clear Lake’s 12th annual conference gives participants a chance to meet student leaders and advisers from all over the region. Social/Emotional Needs of the Gifted

French/American Friendship Project

A first of its kind opportunity to study abroad during next year’s spring break. All can study the history and culture of France March 13-21, 2010 for continuing or independent study credit. The Tournėes Festival presents French film “Un Secret”/”A Secret”

UH-Clear Lake celebrates Veterans Day

The public is invited to join in the seventh annual Veterans Day celebration. Keynote speaker is Walter Cunningham, astronaut and Marine veteran. The event will include displays of photos and stories of veterans and their families, an Army helicopter flyover, and vintage military vehicles and equipment. The Tournėes Festival presents French film “Entre Les Murs”/“The Class”

SAT prep class for high school students
