University of Houston-Clear Lake’s School of Education Dean Dennis Spuck (right) congratulates Galveston’s Crystal Zavala for her scholarship from UH-Clear Lake’s Success Through Education Programs. STEP, as it is also known, offers a seamless educational path between school districts, community colleges and UH-Clear Lake. It was created in collaboration with Galveston ISD and Galveston College through the Galveston Area Teacher Education Recruitment and Retention project (GATER²).

University of Houston-Clear Lake recognized local scholarship winners and anticipated graduates from its Success Through Education Programs, which offer a seamless educational path between school districts, community colleges and UH-Clear Lake that prepares students for a teaching career. STEP, as it is also known, was created in collaboration with Galena Park ISD and San Jacinto College North as part of the HomeGrown Teacher Project.
