UH-Clear Lake collaborates with Czech Center Museum Houston

Expanding relationships with artists throughout the world remains important to University of Houston-Clear Lake Professor of Fine Arts Sandria Hu who has established a collaboration with the Czech Center Museum Houston. This collaboration builds on the university’s International Consortium, a group that includes UH-Clear Lake; Universidad de Veracruzana, Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico; University of Hawaii, Hilo; and University of West Bohemia, Pilzen, Czech Republic.

“Our relationship with the Czech Center Museum will focus on our international artist exchanges from the Czech Republic where the artists can present lectures and workshops at the museum in conjunction with the UH-Clear Lake International Consortium,” explained Hu.

Founded in 1995, the Czech Center Museum was created to celebrate and promote the culture, language, scholarship and arts of Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia and Slovakia.

“The Czech Center Museum Houston was delighted to discover University of Houston-Clear Lake Professor Hu’s long-time association with artists in all mediums in the Czech and Slovak Republics, especially those noted in printmaking, and of her own expertise in this area,” explained Bill Rosene, the museum’s vice president. “The museum only stands to benefit from a collaborative effort with Professor Hu and her extensive knowledge of the arts to advise on future exhibitions both here at the Center and at UH-Clear Lake, which will expose the general public to the talent and artistry of artists here and residing in the Czech and Slovak Republics. The Czech Center Museum Houston is indeed honored to cultivate this relationship.”
