New research clinic to become part of center
University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities is establishing a new research clinic to provide assessment and treatment services for children who exhibit severe problem behaviors, such as self-injurious behavior, aggression, and property destruction.
Children who are diagnosed with a developmental disability are eligible to receive these services at no cost to families. Services will be individualized and provided as part of ongoing studies designed to identify the most effective methods for reducing severe behavior disorders. Following the child’s participation in research, families will receive training in effective behavior management strategies to use at home.
Center faculty will oversee all services with the assistance of graduate and undergraduate students in applied behavior analysis.
