Research and creative arts projects sought
University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Student Conference for Research and Creative Arts seeks entries from student researchers, artists and writers for its upcoming event, April 16-18. The deadline to submit work for consideration is Feb. 20.
Students who are currently enrolled in graduate or undergraduate study, including those actively engaged in thesis or dissertation projects, are invited to submit individual or small group projects, as long as all applicants are students. Entries must include a 300-word abstract or description that clearly details the project, the name of their faculty sponsor and an online conference application.
“By attending this conference, students are exposed to projects being conducted at other universities throughout the country,” says Michael Hunt, director of the conference. “It gives students a chance to discuss and exchange ideas with their peers.”
The Student Conference for Research and Creative Arts was founded in 1994. It has grown significantly since that time attracting more than 2,300 student participants from 127 colleges and universities in 13 states and 4 countries.
A $20 non-refundable processing fee is required for each project [with an additional $5 for each author]. Those needing audiovisual equipment must note this in the application.
Applications and project descriptions must be submitted online at Student Conference for Research and Creative Arts’ Web site, http://www.uhcl.edu/researchartsconference, by Feb. 20, 2008. Notices of acceptance will be sent in early March.
