UH-Clear Lake seeks alumni award nominations

All are invited to nominate University of Houston-Clear Lake alumni for the university’s Distinguished Alumni, Early Achievement, Leadership Service and Outstanding Professor Awards. The deadline for nominations is April 30.

“We look forward every year to receiving nominations for our various awards,” says UH-Clear Lake Director of Alumni and Community Relations Charity Ellis. “We have so many alumni doing exciting work that it is fun to receive the nominations and read about what they are doing.”

Alumni to consider for the UH-Clear Lake Distinguished Alumni Award include graduates of degree or certificate programs who have made a significant contribution to the community and whose careers and accomplishments have brought credit to the university.

The Leadership Service Award honors recent leadership in a service role to the university, while the Early Achievement Award honors graduates under the age of 45 who have made remarkable professional achievements.

A relatively new award, the Outstanding Professor Award, honors professors who embody the fulfillment of learning and discovery by using innovative teaching methods and building a sense of community among students.

“We created the Outstanding Professor Award in 2006 because we wanted to recognize those who helped to make our alumni the leaders they have become,” adds Ellis.

Distinguished Alumni award winners will be announced at the annual alumni celebration in the fall and will have their photographs permanently displayed on the Distinguished Alumni Wall, located on the first floor of the Bayou Building. Recipients of the Early Achievement Award and Leadership Service will be recognized on a display in Atrium I. The Outstanding Professor Award honoree will be recognized on a display in Atrium II and will receive the $5,000 Alumni Association Faculty Fellowship.
