Cultivate a love for science in kids through University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Kids U weeklong Science Camps. Students in pre-K through fifth grade can have fun while learning important science concepts during the camps which run through the end of July.
Kids U summer 2009 Science Camps are focusing on “Chemistry: Concoctions and Commotion,” “Kitchen Chemistry,” “Physics for Young Einsteins,” “Something’s Fishy” and “Wicked Weather.” Each camp is three hours and costs $129 per camper.

Environmental education gets financial boost
Brenda Weiser, director of environmental education with the Environmental Institute of Houston at University of Houston-Clear Lake, received an additional $15,000 financial award and contract extension from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for her project, “Linking TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge & Skills) to Your Schoolyard Habitat.”
The goal of this project is to work with educators as they plan and develop school habitats in schools throughout the greater Houston area.

Free online self-help on a variety of subjects now is available from University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Counseling Services Web site. From study guides to building self esteem, these online help resources are available to all.

Gamers group continues play in summer
University of Houston-Clear Lake’s student-run Gamer’s Guild invites area game enthusiasts gather for a fun evening of cards, board games, and strategy and role-playing games every Friday night in the university’s Student Services and Classroom Building, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston.

Cricket tourney open to all
Enjoy the international game of cricket during the University of Houston-Clear Lake Indian Students Association’s Ninth Annual Cricket Tournament. Running from June 26 through July 26 with matches held on most Friday and Saturday evenings, the tournament takes place beginning at 8 p.m. in the parking lot of the UH-Clear Lake Delta Building, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston.
