ADOPTION STUDY UHCL professors are seeking participants for a study addressing adopted adolescent attachment. Families who have adopted 11- to 18-year-olds living in their homes are invited to be part of the research. For more information about the study or to participate, click here.

TOP HONORS UHCL salutes friends, faculty and staff for their steadfast support and service. President’s Cabinet awards went to Professor of Management Information Systems Naveed Saleem and his wife, Monica; alumna Marilyn Lunney and her husband, Glynn; university friend Iris Mills; and Distinguished Alumna Kathy Tamer. Distinguished faculty and staff awards recognized exemplary contributions by Associate Professor of Management Vance Etnyre, Professor of Literature Gretchen Mieszkowski, Associate Professor of Bilingual and Multicultural Education Judith Marquez and Administrative Assistant Vera Garcia.

SEAMLESS TRANSITION Partnerships with members of the Gulf Coast Community College Consortium allow UHCL to provide higher education opportunities to students studying at two-year institutions. Degree plans like the 2 + 2 Transfer Plan allow students to take lower-level undergraduate courses at community colleges in the consortium then transfer to UHCL to complete requirements for a bachelor’s degree.

PRESS PRIZES Student-produced publications Bayousphere and The UHCLIDIAN garnered honors at the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association competition held in San Antonio in March. Staffers and contributors received awards during both the on-site competition and for work done throughout the year. The Columbia Scholastic Press Association also gave awards to the publications’ staff members.
